Aerospace Liability

Our aerospace liability team assists on all aspects of aerospace liabilities and regularly provides advice and legal services to the domestic and international aerospace community and its insurers. We focus on aerospace companies and insurance clients rather than on major manufacturers, thereby reducing the risk of conflicts arising.

Our lawyers have defended airlines and their insurers in claims and litigation arising from many of the major aviation disasters of the past 30 years. We regularly represent international carriers and their insurers on a broad range of significant liability issues, including the ongoing defence of DVT litigation against British and international airlines.

In conjunction with a tried and tested global network of correspondent lawyers and experts, team members have extensive experience in handling multi-jurisdictional claims and disputes. Besides being qualified in the UK, several of our team members are admitted overseas. Our lawyers are adept at advising in situations that require shrewd political and diplomatic skills, as well as being sensitive to cultural differences.

We can advise on the following areas:

  • The legal aftermath of major and minor air accidents.
  • Carriage by air issues involving EU regulations, Warsaw and Montreal Conventions and associated passenger, cargo, baggage and delay claims.
  • Surface damage claims.
  • Risk management and disaster planning and management.
  • General and regional aviation hull and third party liabilities involving fixed wing aircraft and helicopters.
  • Sports aviation liabilities involving gliders, balloons, microlights, hang gliders, paragliders and parachuting.
  • Commercial disputes and other contentious aviation matters.
  • Satellite launch and orbit issues.
  • Security and terrorism issues.
  • Maintenance and product liabilities.
  • Denied boarding claims.
  • Personal injury and property damage claims.
