"...the founding of this new aviation law boutique is one of the most exciting things to happen in the sector for years..." Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession
The Gates and Partners aerospace liability team assists in relation to all aspects of aerospace liabilities and regularly provides advice and legal services to the domestic and international aerospace community and its insurers. By focusing on aerospace companies and insurance clients rather than upon major manufacturers, the firm lessens the risk of conflicts which could arise with manufacturers or other aerospace service providers. The firm's policy on and approach to conflicts and conflict avoidance is unique amongst its competitors.
Among our team are those who have led the legal defence of airlines and their insurers in claims and litigation arising from many of the major aviation disasters of the past 30 years. Our expertise in the field is therefore based upon regular representation of international carriers and their insurers on a broad range of significant liability issues, including the ongoing defence of DVT litigation against British and international airlines.
In conjunction with a tried and tested global network of correspondent lawyers and experts, team members have extensive experience in handling multi-jurisdictional claims and disputes. Besides being qualified in the UK, several of our team members are admitted overseas. Our lawyers are adept at advising in situations which require shrewd political and diplomatic skills, as well as being sensitive to cultural differences. Languages spoken by our team members include Spanish, German, French, Mandarin, Portuguese, Hebrew, Croatian, Serbian, Greek and Galician.
We can advise upon and handle:
- The legal aftermath of major and minor air accidents.
- Carriage by air issues involving EU regulations, Warsaw and Montreal Conventions and associated passenger, cargo, baggage and delay claims.
